Active Explorers Central City Welcomes Spring

Exploring seasonal changes not only helps children develop respect for the world around them, it’s also a great way to build the scientific skills of observation and prediction.

This week the Prep Room children from Active Explorers Central City learnt a lot about Spring, thanks to a journey of exploration to one of Canterbury’s rural communities. Children discovered first-hand how daffodils grow and the best way to pick them, and they were also taught how lambs are hand reared on the farm.

“The excursion was a brilliant way to support our children’s current interest and learning around our Earth,” said Centre Manager Leslyn Graham.

The icing on the cake was a visit to sister centre Active Explorers Leeston on the way home, giving children the opportunity to meet new people, explore the centre’s vast natural outside environment, and play on some very cool climbing equipment.

“They loved testing out their balance, gross motor skills and strength,” added Leslyn.
