Diwali Brings a Taste of Bollywood

Bollywood music and dancing has taken the world by storm and for the children at Active Explorers Blockhouse Bay, it was one of the many highlights of Diwali 2019.

“The children absolutely loved our special Bollywood music and dance session, and the little people in Teina room especially enjoyed music and dance with Viaan’s parents, ” says centre manager Anjana Andrews.

Active Explorers Blockhouse Bay went all out in their Diwali celebrations this year, with a whole host of fun-filled activities for the tamariki.

“Children came in ethnic wear and our Indian parents donated traditional outfits. Our older children made beautiful 'diyas' with clay and created traditional rangoli patterns, and we even had face painting with special designs.”

What’s more, the food was sensational.

“The children enjoyed onion pakora for afternoon tea, Hemal (Keyaan's mum) made pani puri (an Indian savoury treat), and teachers and children whipped up the  popular Indian sweet treat, coconut laddo.”
