September's Sustainability Adventures
Welcome to our 3rd instalment of our sustainability journey.
Conveniently located in the heart of Christchurch, Active Explorers Central City is a vibrant, nurturing and high quality early childhood centre. Well resourced, and staffed by highly experienced educators, we support children to tap into their full potential. Our tamariki are encouraged to explore the world around them through rich, meaningful programmes and regular excursions that can’t help but bring out their ‘inner-explorer’. Children learn concepts such as taking responsibility, independence and helping others, and are part of a learning journey that celebrates and grows enquiring minds.
Our families are a vital component of daily centre life, and we welcome and encourage whānau participation and involvement. The preschool years lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Together, let’s inspire your child to reach for the stars.

Welcome to our 3rd instalment of our sustainability journey.
What and how do you re-use, recycle and upcycle things you find lying around? How creative can you get with a bunch of things that could be thrown away?
Earlier this year, we thought – wouldn’t it be great to teach the children how to make paper that they can re-use in their creative play. Well – this just opened up the flood gates on what else we could do. We have so many ideas for where this journey will take us and we know that this practice will become an embedded part of our every day life throughout the centre.
Effective 1 April 2023, more people will be eligible for subsidy and the hourly subsidy rates will increase.
