We’ve done it! Our Urban Explorers programme is officially underway.
So far, we’ve held three Urban Explorers sessions, and both tamariki and kaiako are thoroughly enjoying their time in nature. They’ve been engaging with the local environment, noticing the diverse plant life, meeting local residents (and their pets), and learning about various natural phenomena.
One exciting moment was when the children discovered a bird’s egg and built a protective structure out of fallen tree twigs to safeguard it! We've also gathered harakeke to create a natural sunscreen for our vegetable garden at preschool.
These sessions offer the perfect opportunity for the children to run, explore, and immerse themselves in nature. As the programme progresses, we look forward to observing the changing seasons, incorporating sports equipment for movement sessions, and so much more!
